This short-lived creamery was built on the corner of Richmond and Lincoln Roads for the Moa Farmers Co-operative Dairy Company Limited by Messrs Henwood and Metcalf in time for the beginning of the 1911-1912 season. This creamery initially supplied cream to the main Moa butter factory in Inglewood about about 5km away. A cottage was also built for the creamery manager.
In 1915, only four years after being built, there was speculation about the viability of the creamery given the increased home separation by local farmers. The creamery did survive for another few years with casein plant being installed in 1919 with the casein being supplied to the New Zealand Casein Company in Wanganui. However, the creamery could not resist the rising tide of home separation and was eventually closed at the end of the 1920-1921 season before being advertised for sale in July 1922.
Managers included:
1912 - Robert Swanston
1912 - Mr Broadmore
