This creamery and then cheese factory had an eventful life in its short history. Originally built on Allen Road, Ohangai for the Mells Co-operative Dairy Company Limited in 1903 for a cost of £312 16s 4d, following its destruction by fire in 1906, the rebuilt creamery was taken over by the Meremere Co-operative Dairy Company Limited in early 1907.

On Sunday 2 September 1906, the creamery burned down but it was quickly rebuilt on the same site before being taken over by the Meremere Co-operative Dairy Company Limited by early 1907.

Better prices for cheese meant that the creamery was extended with cheese plant being installed in 1912 but its viability due to its isolation and the increasingly dilapidated state of the factory meant that it was closed down for good in 1921. Its land and buildings were advertised for sale in July 1921 with a further sale of surplus timber and other equipment being advertised for sale at the Ohangai factory in February 1922.

Managers included:

1912 - Robert Swainston
1912 - Mr Broadmore
