The Crown Dairy Company built a creamery on the Eltham Road on the west bank of the Taungatara stream in 1897. The creamery was built by Messrs Ross and Sims and the first Manager was William Bremner.

The creamery supplied the Crown Dairy Company Pihama Butter factory.

In August 1899, suppliers to the creamery discussed joining one of the neighbouring co-operative factories but this does appear to have occurred until 1902 when the creamery was sold to the Pihama Co-operative Dairy Company Limited.

The Pihama company ran the creamery until it was closed down in 1912. The creamery coexisted with the Taungatara branch creamery and then factory of the Awatuna Co-op on the east bank of the Taungatara stream from when that creamery/factory was built in 1900 until 1912 when that creamery closed down.

Unclear whether there are any physical remains of the creamery.
