The Oxford Road creamery was erected by the Crown Dairy Company in 1894 to supply the Crown butter factory in Okato 3 kms away.

The creamery operated as part of the Crown Dairy Company until it was sold on 14 August 1905 to the newly formed Okato & Puniho Co-operative Dairy Company Limited. It continued as a creamery of that company until the local Oxford Road suppliers decided to form their own co-operative dairy company (the Oxford Road Co-operative Dairy Factory Limited) in 1915. At that point, the creamery was closed down and some of its plant was used by the new Oxford Road co-op company.

On 22 December 1915, the creamery site was sold to Mr WE Haylock and as at 1965, the creamery was being used as a hayshed by Mr Arthur Haylock, the then chairman of directors of the Oxford Road co-operative dairy company.
